How to Utilize Your Summer Camp Experience on College Applications

Summer camps can be an excellent way to build skills, explore new interests, and make lasting connections. But did you know that they can also be a valuable asset when it comes to college applications?

Here's how to make the most of it:

  1. Highlight your skills and achievements. Whether you worked on a group project, developed a business plan, or gained leadership experience, be sure to highlight the skills you developed and the achievements you accomplished during your time at the Oregon Business Academy. Use specific examples and quantify your results whenever possible.

  2. Emphasize your passion for business. If you're applying to a business program, your participation in Business Week can demonstrate your interest and passion for the field. Be sure to connect your experience at the camp to your long-term goals and explain how it has shaped your academic and career aspirations.

  3. Show that you're a well-rounded candidate. While your experience at Business Week is important, it's just one part of your overall application. Make sure to highlight other areas of your life that demonstrate your interests, values, and accomplishments, such as extracurricular activities, volunteer work, or internships.

  4. Ask for letters of recommendation. If you made a strong connection with a company advisor at the Oregon Business Academy, consider asking them for a letter of recommendation. A well-written letter from someone who knows you well can carry a lot of weight with college admissions officers.

If you attend Business Week, you have a unique opportunity to showcase your experience and accomplishments to college admissions officers. Remember, your experience at Business Week is just one piece of your college application puzzle. But if you use it effectively, it can be a valuable asset that helps you stand out from the crowd and get noticed by the colleges and universities of your choice. Good luck!
